Worship. Serve. Celebrate. Repeat.
We’re so glad you’re here!

At First Presbyterian Church, we believe that faith grows stronger in community. Throughout the year, we host a variety of events that bring people together for worship, service, learning, and fellowship.

Whether it’s a joyful celebration, a mission opportunity, or a quiet moment of connection, there’s something for everyone. Come join us—there’s always room at the table.

Book Studies

Our Book Studies are rooted in Christian beliefs and centered on growing together in faith through thoughtful reading and discussion. Together, we’ve reflected on the powerful messages in Words of Love and journeyed through the hope-filled themes of An Unlikely Advent, discovering how God’s truth speaks into our everyday lives. Each gathering offers meaningful conversation, prayerful reflection, and encouragement as we seek to deepen our understanding of Scripture and live out Christ’s love more fully. With more inspiring books to come, our Book Studies continue to be a welcoming space for learning, connection, and spiritual growth.

May Day Basket Extravaganza

Each year on the first Sunday in May, our church family gathers for the May Day Basket Extravaganza—a fun and meaningful event supporting local missions. Members and friends create themed baskets that are either auctioned live or won through $1 ticket drawings. All proceeds benefit local outreach, including the Kiwanis Food Bank.

Before the auction and drawings, we enjoy a church-wide potluck meal filled with great food and fellowship.

This is a highlight of our church calendar. Whether you’re bringing a basket, buying tickets, bidding in the auction, or just coming to enjoy the meal and community, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Lenten Service

Our Lenten Service begins on Ash Wednesday and invites all to enter this sacred season with intention, community, and reflection. Each week, we gather to share a meal before participating in a meaningful, short reflection centered on the journey toward Holy Week. This year, we are guided by Lent in Plain Sight: A Devotion Through Ten Objects, exploring how everyday items can reveal profound spiritual truths and draw us closer to Christ’s story. Through fellowship, prayer, and thoughtful conversation, these evenings offer a peaceful and purposeful way to prepare our hearts for Easter.

Church in the Park

Each year, we look forward to one of our favorite traditions, Church in the Park, a joyful opportunity to gather outside the walls of our sanctuary and celebrate God’s goodness in the beauty of His creation.

This special service is a wonderful way to step out of the routine and enjoy a more relaxed, family-friendly worship experience. It’s a perfect chance to let the kids be kids, running, laughing, and playing in the fresh air, while we worship together in a setting that reminds us of the wonder and joy of God’s creation.

Following the service, we encourage you to stick around and connect with others. Whether you’re new to our church family or have been with us for years, this event is a beautiful reminder that church is not just a building, it’s the people.

Mens Group

Where men come together to grow in their faith, encourage one another, and build strong friendships through Bible study, prayer, and meaningful conversation.

Chili Cook off

The annual Alliance of Churches Chili Cook-Off brought warmth, flavor, and generosity together in a wonderful evening of community spirit. Held at the Sturgis Community Center, the event raised an impressive $3,385.06 to support local residents experiencing financial hardship. Thanks to the creativity of chili chefs, the enthusiasm of attendees, and the shared commitment to caring for neighbors in need, the cook-off was more than just a friendly competition—it was a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community gathers with open hearts and helping hands.

Summer Sack Lunches

Providing free, nutritious, grab-and-go meals to children during the summer months to help ensure they stay nourished while school is out.
